4 Approval of previous minutes –
Approval of the Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on 9 October 2023 was proposed by Cllr David, seconded by Cllr Mrs S Swires and signed by the Chairman.
5 Urgent Business – The Defibrillator – for the Squinting Cat to be collected
ready for installation. The instructions for the regular maintenance to be obtained for use by the replacement/custodians of the Smiths Arms and Squinting Cat defibrillators.
Grants – Working with Organisations – grants and form to
be discussed at next meeting.
Bench – siting of, on Otley Road. Awaiting delivery of
bench and then to contact the site management.
Notice Board – Grant application refused. Apply to Knabb’s
Ridge – from Feb for upto £700 and Cllr
Hull’s NY grants in April.
Commuted Sums – Approx £41,000 to be spent before
2031 (Cricket Field, Otley Road)
Can any of this amount be diverted to the
current Beckwithshaw Cricket Club? Cllr
Parish to report to next meeting.
Hedges Hedges again overgrown, await a
“walkthrough of village”

6 Finances
– The bank balances at 20 November 2023 were reported to the Parish
Council:
Business Current Account £1,612.15
Business Money Manager (Deposit Account) £8,530.68

Clerk to investigate the possibility of a ‘Debit Card’ for some payments. – Clerk to check with Bank as to whether the new mandate has been implemented.
NJC pay award approved – increase of £260 pa to Clerk’s Salary.
Prior Approval needed to pay Clerk’s Dec Quarter Salary (and Tax) plus back pay.
Approved by Cllr Mrs S Swires and seconded by Cllr Parish.
Precept/Budget 2024/25
Following a discussion the Precept Calculation Request 2024/2025 of £7,720.00 was
proposed by Cllr Spence, seconded Cllr David and agreed by all.
7 North Yorkshire Councillor In future Parish Councils may be asked to bear the
costs of Bye Elections. Cllr Hull to enquire about costs.
Some more areas have been allocated recycling
bins to replace existing bags, our area has not been included.
