MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON Monday 24 November 2025
Location: Beckwithshaw Village Hall
Present: Councillors – Cllr D Spence (Chairman), Cllr A Ellis, Cllr Mr S Swires, Cllr M David and Cllr J Parish
Parish Clerk – Mrs J H Galloway.

- Approval of previous minutes
Approval of the Minutes of the Parish Council held on 13 October 2025 was proposed by Cllr Spence and seconded by Cllr Parish. The minutes were signed by the Chairman.
- Urgent Business – Speed Sign – North Yorkshire Council legal department to be consulted.
Website – Work ongoing and layout to be reviewed. Information on “Cost-of-living” etc to be posted on site.
Commuted Sums – A letter to North Yorkshire to be composed
Village Gateways – One quote of approx. £700 has been received. If the gateway is placed on PC land do we still need to obtain a licence from Highways? Highways to be contacted.
Digitising minutes – Ongoing.

The bank balances at 24 November 2025 were reported to the Parish Council:

Business Money Manager (Deposit Account) 10.785.44

Clerks Expenses re purchase of defib pads paid £151.71
Approved for payment by Cllrs Spence and David.
Asset Register updated.
An authorised signee (one of the Councillors) to speak with bank re Safeguarding.

Conversion of an agricultural building to form one dwelling at Beckwith Lodge Farm,
Beckwith (Mr Richard O’Neill)
The Parish Council does not object to or support the application but wishes to make
comments or seek safeguards as set out below:-
The Parish Council is concerned that the parking area is rather small for the number
of vehicles shown
- Local Plan No update
- Traffic and Highways The Potholes on Otley Road and Whinney Lane have been repaired.
Faults on Pot Bank are to be reported. (silted up corners on bridge exits, road surface on hill
deteriorating, large chevrons missing from corners, road signs either side of bridge, hills and z bends are not consistent).
Problems can be reported to North Yorkshire on the following webpage:
- Copse and Grass cutting Work is in progres
The seat in the copse requires repairing.
Autumn leaf fall to be cleared from paths.
- Correspondence North Yorkshire Council has announced some
changes to the system for reporting Decisions
made. Further information to be acquired.
