Parish Liaison Meeting – Cllrs Parish and Spence attended a meeting on 27th May with Chris Blackburn, NYC Highways Customer Communities Officer to discuss Parish Council highways issues. We were given a resume of the Highways and Bridges departments responsibilities and priorities which are wide ranging and extensive. We were informed that all of this work is managed by a relatively small team on a modest budget considering the extensive road network and number of bridges falling under their remit. The following specific issues were raised:-

Grass cutting – particularly at road junctions to clear sight lines.

Pot Bank – We asked for the reinstatement of the anti skid road surface and additional signage to highlight the need to reduce speed and identify the nature of the corners and restricted road widths drivers need to negotiate. We also asked if an Armco barrier could be installed to protect the garden of the Pot Bank Cottage adjacent to the first bend when travelling towards Killinghall.

Proposed Village Sign – we asked if we need to apply for a licence to erect a ‘Village Gate Sign’ on the green opposite Shaw Lane.

Chris Blackburn responded that he would send an inspector to check site lines at road junctions and report back on the other issues.
