HAVERAH PARK WITH BECKWITHSHAW PARISH COUNCIL

 

MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON Monday 11 May 2026

 

Location:     Beckwithshaw Village Hall

 

Present:          Councillors – Cllr D Spence (Chairman), Cllr A Ellis, Cllr J Parish and

Cllr Mr S Swires.

Parish Clerk – Mrs J H Galloway

 

2 Members of the public were present.

 

 

Following the Open Meeting the meeting commenced at 7.40pm

 

 

  1. Apologies:                       Cllr M David and Cllr Mrs S Swires.

 

  1. Declaration of Interest: None.

  1. Approval of Previous Minutes

 

Approval of the Minutes of the Parish (Open) Meeting held on 13 April 2026 and the Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on 13 April 2026 was proposed by Cllr Parish and seconded by Cllr Ellis. The minutes were signed by the Chairman.

 

  1. Urgent Business:            Speed Sign – Letter to be sent to PGTCS Ltd. Two versions of

the proposed letter were drafted by Cllr David.  It was

decided after a short discussion to send the softer letter –

to be sent by recorded delivery.

 

Village Gateways – A submission to be put to North Yorkshire re

the proposed Gateway/s with pictures, location and relevant documents.

 

 

Emergency Plan – A reviewed plan has been passed to the Clerk

for checking and amendment.

 

 

Neighbourhood Plan Meeting – The Chairman attended a

meeting with Harrogate Town Council. They

are asking for a contribution of £15,000, this

was considered by the Councillors and

deemed to be not viable for a PC of our

small size. Letter to be sent to Harrogate

Town Council.

 

 

 

Parish Liaison Meeting – List of dates received, 3 Councillors to

attend on 27 May 2026 .

 

 

North Yorkshire’s Call for Sites –Date has been extended to 22

June 2026. Meeting with Cllr Dixon (Harlow

Ward, Harrogate Town Council) to be

rearranged.

 

 

Newsletter – Draft received, Clerk to organise.

 

 

 

  1. Finances: The bank balances at 11 May2026 were reported to the Parish Council:

  1. Correspondence:            Information received on Dark Skies, information to be included in

Newsletter.

 

                                                    North Yorkshire Council Parish Liaison Team have announced

that they are developing a bespoke website to support

Clerks across North Yorkshire. They plan to launch the

website in June and will share further details nearer the

time and include how to register.

 

Mr Cope has now contacted the Village Hall Committee offering

his assistance.
