MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON Monday 8 April 2024
Location: Beckwithshaw Village Hall
Present: Councillors – Cllr D Spence (Chairman), Cllr A Ellis, Cllr Mr S Swires,
Cllr Mrs S Swires and Cllr J Parish.
Parish Clerk – Mrs J H Galloway.
3 Members of the public were present.
Following the Open Meeting the meeting commenced at 8.00pm
1 Apologies Cllr M David and Cllr Hull.
2 Declarations of Interest Cllr Steven Swires declared an interest in planning
item ZC24T/00994/FUL this item will be discussed at end of meeting when Cllr Swires has left the premises.
3 Exempt Information None.
4 Approval of previous minutes –
Approval of the Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on 11 March 2024 was proposed by Cllr Mrs S Swires, seconded by Cllr S Swires and signed by the Chairman with the following amendment to minute number 7 – “The full opening of the Kex Gill bypass will be in 2025” instead of “Delay till 2025 on Kex Gill opening due to extra slippage”
5 Urgent Business – The Defibrillator – New defibrillator has now been installed
at the Squinting Cat.
Grants – Working with Organisations – postponed, to
be followed up later.
Bench – Site management company will contact us
when they take over the site.
Notice Board – Grant of £1,000.00 received and order
placed, delivery date 6 May 2024.
Commuted Sums – New list received with same amounts.
Awaiting response from Cllr Hull re
monies for cricket ground Otley Road.
Newsletter – Content for a Spring Newsletter to be
drafted out by Chairman and Councillors.
Website Changeover in progress.

New bank mandate completed to be handed in as Bank was closed for two/three
weeks.
- North Yorkshire Councillor A list of items the PC wanted to discuss with Cllr
Hull will be compiled and forwarded by Cllr Spence.

9 Local Plan Still no local input being used with regard to
all the new housing developments.
10 Traffic and Highways List of items of concern within the Parish details
to be checked and forwarded to Highways, as per list attached.

11 Copse and Grass cutting Annual contract commenced.
12 Correspondence Received a letter from Forestry England asking for
comments about the land purchased by them in Haverah
Park.
13 Councillors Questions/Comments None.
